Frequently Asked Questions

All 5k and Mile Walk participants registered before September 1st will receive a long sleeve cotton shirt or short sleeve technical shirt. All registered participants will receive a custom finisher medal.  For those registering after September 1st, shirts and medals will be available until supplies run out.  Registrants can participate in both the 5k and Mile Walk for one registration fee, but participants will receive only one shirt and one medal.

Race packets can be picked up at Gazelle Sports, 3930 28th Street, Grand Rapids from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Friday, September 20th. Race packets can also be picked up the morning of the race beginning at 7:00 am. Packets may also be picked up on race day beginning at 7:00 am.

If you can’t join us, you can run the race virtually wherever you are.  We will send your shirt and finisher medal to the address you provide.

The 5k will be chip-timed.  There will be age-group awards for the top male and female finishers.  The Mile Walk will not be timed.

The 5k and Mile Walk course will be paved.  Strollers and wheelchairs are welcome on both courses. If you have an ADA need or require special accommodations, please contact us.

Yes! This family friendly event is fun for the whole family and dedicated runners, casual walkers and kids of all ages can participate.

Yes! The 5k and Mile Walk will be on the paved streets of the beautiful Farmers campus.  Strollers and wheelchairs are welcome on both courses.

For the safety and comfort of our participants, pets are not allowed.

Proceeds support the programs of the Pediatric Congenital Heart Association (PCHA) of Michigan,  a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization run by volunteers that provides hope and support to Michigan families affected by heart defects.

Funky Heart 5k Terms & Conditions

Participating in a road race is a potentially hazardous activity.  You should not enter and run unless you are medically able and properly trained.  Participants must abide by any decision of a race official relative to their ability to safely complete the run.  Participants must also agree to abide by the rules of the race and the directions of the race officials.  You assume all risks associated with participating in this event including, but not limited to, falls, contact with other participants, the effects of the weather, including high heat and/or humidity, traffic and the condition of the road.

We reserve the right to use any photographs, motion pictures, recordings, or any other record of this event for purposes of publicity, advertising, marketing, promotion, education or publication.
